The North Alabama SolidWorks Users Group (NASWUG) is proud to announce our 4th Annual NASWUG Year End meeting! The meeting will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2008 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Dynetics Corporate Headquarters Building.
We are excited to announce that we will have TWO excellent speakers in attendance from DS SolidWorks Corporation.
Jim Wilkinson, who is the Director of User Experience for SolidWorks, will be giving a presentation on User Interface Customization. Jim manages the usability/user interface team as well as documentation and localization teams for DS SolidWorks Corporation.
Bruce Holway, who is the Manager of Product Definition for SolidWorks, will be giving a presentation on Using Layout Sketches for Assembly and Mechanism Design. Bruce has 17 years experience working in the CAD industry in various technical positions. The Product Definition team he manages is responsible for developing specifications for new functionality in SolidWorks.
In addition to the earlier announcement for the September 2008 Meeting. I would like to add some exciting details for the meeting.
Matt Lombard will be in attendance at the meeting and will be presenting some of the What’s New in SolidWorks 2009 content. Matt is the author of the SolidWorks 2007 Bible which is the best selling book on SolidWorks. Towards the end of this year he will be releasing the SolidWorks 2009 Bible which I had a small part in as well.
Due to some scheduling conflicts, there will be a LOCATION CHANGE for this meeting. The meeting will be held in the Dynetics Systems building which is located next door to the Dynetics CHQ building where we normally have our meetings. Below is a map of the Dynetics campus showing you how to get to the proper entrance for the meeting. I will post information on the front doors of the CHQ building in case there is any confusion.

The North Alabama SolidWorks Users Group (NASWUG) would like to announce our June 2008 NASWUG-RSA meeting. The meeting will be held on Tuesday June 24, 2008 from 11:00am to 1:00pm on the grounds of the Redstone Arsenal. The meeting will be held at the Prototype Integration Facility (PIF) located just behind Building 5400 off Martin Road.
CLARIFICATION: If you signed up for the meeting on Friday, the confirmation e-mail incorrectly states that the meeting is at the SELA auditorium. This has been corrected, but just to reiterate, the meeting is at the PIF.
NASWUG-RSA President Gary Hall will give a presentation on SolidWorks Templates. The presentation will focus on the features and options found in Part, Assembly, and Drawing templates.
The meeting is open to all SolidWorks users who have their own pass to get on the grounds of the Arsenal.
Lunch and door prizes will be provided.

The May 2008 Meeting is tonight! This will be a meeting you don’t want to miss. Along with our previously announced presentation we will hold Officer Elections. Each position requires a self nomination. If more than one person runs for a position the winner will be determined through online voting. Below is a summary of the four positions along with a brief description.
President
Responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and running User Group meetings. Responsible for group website and any related user forums. Maintains user contact database. (President’s note - I have and continue to enjoy serving as your User Group President. I am more than happy to continue in this role and will be running for the position again. I believe in open elections for ALL positions which includes this one.)
Vice President
Assist President in planning, coordinating, and running User Group events. Responsible for running User Group meetings in the event the President is unable to attend. Represents NASWUG if needed in local SolidWorks related events.
First Secretary
Primary responsibility is to take meeting minutes for all NASWUG meetings. Assist in greeting new members to the group at meetings.
Second Secretary
Assists First Secretary in taking meeting minutes and serves as backup in the event the First Secretary cannot attend the meeting. Also greets new members to the group at meetings.
NASWUG Advisory Board
Consists of the four NASWUG officers plus two volunteers. Meets once every two months to discuss meeting topics and ways to improve the User Group. We will take names of members interested in this position. Final selection of the two volunteers will fall to the NASWUG officers. One of the first topics of the Advisory Board will be getting more educational institutions involved in the User Group.

Matt Rece of SolidWorks Corporation will be on hand to show off an exciting new product called 3dvia Composer! Matt is a Territory Technical Manager for SolidWorks products.
